TITLE;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Whatever the Weather
SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Whatever the Weather
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Harry Volkman knew he wanted to study weather from the time he was 4 years old and saw how a severe thunderstorm outside his house one night affected his mother. In 1952, he made history by being the very first weatherman to ever issue a tornado alert on television. Harry moved to Chicago in 1959 and worked for most of the major TV stations until 2004. Well known for his WHOOOSH sound to describe strong winds coming in, Volkman also liked to visit local grade schools where he'd wear the flower they gave to him on that evening's weather forecast. Come and listen to behind the scenes stories of Bill Curtis, Gene Siskel, Ernie Banks, Floyd Kalber, Bob Sirott, Tom Skilling, Fahey Flynn, John Drury and many more!
