Named one of the top 100 places to live in the United States, and the 2014 third best community for Quality of Life in Illinois, The Elk Grove Village Public Library seeks a hands-on dynamic library director who will make a commitment to a vital community that has a strong sense of public service, and family values. Elk Grove Village is conveniently located 20 miles from Chicago with excellent access to the metro area and the richness of well-developed area communities. The Elk Grove Village Public Library serves a population of 33,000 and is centrally located within the Village’s campus of government facilities.

The director will work with the Board of Trustees and staff to continue its traditional practice of continual progress. Combining leadership and management skills, the Library is looking for an astute operational manager who understands and can work effectively within the Library’s culture. The Library is represented by AFSCME Local #3783.

The director will be a highly visible advocate for the Library, able to work successfully with elected officials, community leaders and stakeholders. The director will excel at communicating effectively, building partnerships, empowering staff, and collaborating with other area agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
MLS from an ALA-accredited library education program, plus 5-7 years professional library experience with demonstrated management ability in administration, budgeting, planning, and supervision. The successful candidate will have a strong philosophy of customer service, the ability to attract and maintain a talented staff, and embrace the library’s values, including trust, staff participation, and team management.

Beginning at $105,000 depending on qualifications, plus full benefit package
