Overdue Fines and Notices
The Elk Grove Village Public Library is fines free!
In an effort to eliminate economic barriers, the Library no longer charges daily fines for overdue books and most other materials. Additionally, all existing overdue fines will be erased from all Library cardholder accounts.

Overdue Notices
When library material is not returned to the Elk Grove Village Public Library, the Library generates notices to remind the patron that they have library material out.
Borrowers are expected to return library material before or on the specified due date. The Library will send overdue reminders when library materials are 15 days and 30 days overdue.
After 45 days, borrowers are billed for the replacement costs of library material. Returning the material will remove this charge from the borrower's account.
When library material is not returned within 60 days, the Library will turn the borrower's account over to a materials recovery agency, and the borrower is charged a flat $11.04 fee. If library material is returned, the borrower will not be charged for the replacement cost of the item, but they are responsible for paying the $11.04 material recovery fee.
