About the Program

In accordance with the Cards for Kids Act, the Elk Grove Village Library is offering full-service library cards free of charge to students in grades PreK-12 who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Qualify for the free or reduced lunch program at your school
  • Live in an unincorporated area
  • Attend one of the schools listed below

To qualify for the Cards for Kids program, households must meet the Income Eligibility Guidelines used to determine eligibility for free and reduced meals under the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

How to Apply

If a student meets all of the above requirements, their parent or guardian must fill out the library card application form below. Paper application forms are also available at the Circulation Services Desk at the Elk Grove Village Library, if you wish to apply in person.

You may also print out the application form, fill it out and attach the neccessary school district forms, and then deliver it in person to the Circulation Services Desk at the Elk Grove Village Library.

Once a student has been approved for a library card and receives notification from the Library, they must pick up their card in person at the Circulation Services Desk located in the lobby. Approved library cards may also be picked up using our Curbside Service during regular Curbside hours.
