About the Friends
The Friends of the Library is a volunteer group that raises funds for the Elk Grove Village Public Library through its used book sales and other fundraising activities. The Friends use this money to sponsor Library programs and community events and help purchase equipment, furnishings, and other materials for the Library including:
- Bronze sculptures located throughout the Library
- Elk Grove Township Food Pantry (annual contribution)
- Fallen Soldier Scholarships partnered with Character Counts Coalition (since 2015)
- Hearing loop in the Lee Maternowski Meeting Room
- Light-Brite wall in Youth Services
- Meeting room furniture in Adult Services
- Outdoor digital sign at the Wellington Avenue entrance
- Packages4Patriots
Donate Materials
The Friends of the Elk Grove Village Public Library are always seeking donations from the community to ensure their book sales throughout the year are successful. Drop off your donations at the Circulation Services Desk in the Lobby. Please only donate items that are clean and in near-mint and usable condition.
We accept most items, EXCEPT the following:
- Audiobooks on CD
- Cassette tapes
- Magazines
- VHS tapes
Used Book Sales
Stop in the Library during regular hours to buy gently used, discarded, and donated books, DVDs, music CDs, and more at the Friends' used book sale located in the Lobby. Prices are as marked. Please put your payment in the blue cash box that's located in the used book sale area.
Membership
For a sense of contributing to the community plus fellowship and fun, join the Friends of the Elk Grove Village Public Library. Membership to the Friends of the Library is open to all individuals and costs:
- $1 Student
- $5 Individual
- $10 Family
- $25 Patron
- $100 Lifetime individual
The membership year runs from May 1 - April 30. Dues paid in March and April will be effective May 1st of that year. Stop by the Circulation Desk to fill out an application form. You may also download and print a form, then mail it and your membership fee to:
